What Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a healing technique involving the use of needles to relieve pain and reduce symptoms of other ailments.

This treatment originated in traditional Chinese medicine over 3,000 years ago.

It has been used in Western medicine for over 20 years and has been deemed a very effective healing treatment.

What Conditions Does Acupuncture Treat?

This treatment is most commonly used to treat pain.

However, you may also benefit from acupuncture if you are experiencing:

  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Sciatica
  • Strains
  • Postoperative Pain
  • Tennis Elbow

And more.

If you are experiencing any of these, Dr. Castle can talk you through the benefits of this treatment.

How Is An Acupuncture Treatment Performed?

To begin treatment, the acupuncturist will begin with an examination of the patient.

After the examination, a plan is put together to ensure the needles are placed in the best places to relieve your pain or other condition.

From there, you will lie down on a table while the treatment begins.

Small needles will be placed in strategic areas of your body, sometimes called acupoints.

Once these acupoints are located and the needles are placed, they will remain for up to 30 minutes.

Little to no discomfort is felt during the entire treatment.

Once the needles are removed patients often feel very relaxed.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

This is different for every patient.

However, many patients experience a great amount of relief after just one treatment!

Is Acupuncture Safe?

We have gotten this question quite a bit and the answer is yes!

Our acupuncturist is fully-trained to provide you with the best treatment possible.

We use single-use needles so you are the only patient using those needles (we know that should be mandatory but you should always double-check with your acupuncturist!).

If you are not sure whether this treatment is right for you, give us a call.

We will be happy to help you select the perfect treatment for your condition to get you healthy.
